I am Anita Peters, an academic coach for students in grades 7-12.
To the Parents: Perhaps, most importantly, I enjoy working with young adults and they enjoy working with me because I help them discover their intellect, transform their weaknesses into strengths, and advance their learning of skills and overall understanding: I help them succeed.
To the Students: I look forward to getting to know you and to working with you on specific assignments, strategies, and skills. Tutoring is a partnership between the teacher and the student. For any partnership to be successful, there has to be trust, respect, confidence, ambition, and commitment. I can assure you that I will earn your trust, win your respect, inspire confidence in me and yourself, spark your curiosity and be dedicated to your success.
I tutor students who are interested in learning to…
How can I raise my grades? Why is it that I did well on the exam but still got a C for the class? Why do I wait until the last minute?
Write well (or better)
Is it their, they’re or there? Why isn’t this a thesis statement? What is the difference between a summary and a conclusion? Evidence?
Are all questions equal? What do we really mean by “metacognition?”
Why am I taking notes, active listening, and engaging with this dry material?
Take the edge off of the college application process
What do I want from college? Which college? How do I describe who I am?
